Robertson's Biltong founders always loved cooking, and being from South Africa, biltong is something they knew and loved. They were locked down in their bubble during COVID with not much to do. So, being the entrepreneurs they are, mother and son (Frank and Carene) decided to take a crack at making some biltong with a dehydrator they got for Christmas. It was the best biltong they ever tried so they threw it up on facebook and within 5 minutes they had people coming to their door! They quickly jumped through all the hoops to get all the certifications to sell it online and hit the ground running.
Biltong isn't what most Canadians think "jerky" is. So, Robertson's Biltong educates people while they taste their products and lets them know it is more like a prosciutto than jerky.
