Rainbow Kitchen's Programs
Since 2010 Rainbow Kitchen has been serving the Greater Victoria community through a series of food security programs. Currently, they run a daily hot breakfast and lunch program, a get-what-you-need pantry and most recently their School Meal Program known as their 'Fridge of Love'.
Beyond the programs they operate themselves, Rainbow Kitchen is a pillar in the community, teaming up with other likeminded organizations to further help those in need.
How Will Funds Be Used?
Rainbow Kitchen's School Meal Program, lovingly nicknamed the 'Fridge of Love' is currently operating in three Esquimalt-based schools: Macaulay Elementary, Rockheights Middle School & Esquimalt High School. The program was founded after Rainbow Kitchen discovered the startling number of students in their neighbourhood that were going to school hungry.
A 'Fridge of Love' has been set up in each school and is regularly filled with delicious & nutritious snacks to help keep the bellies of staff, students and visitors full while also working to reduce stigma for accessing these sorts of support services.
5% from every Rainbow Kitchen BCause Box sold will directly help sustain and grow the 'Fridge of Love' program.
