Premium Western Red Cedar Cooking Wraps - BC Coastal Grilling Planks (10Pk)
Our cooking wraps are made from clear vertical grain western red cedar lumber, sliced into veneer and chopped into 6”L x 6”W pieces.
There are 10 Wraps per package that include 10 lengths of cotton butchers twine for tying.
They are made for single use only and work well in the oven as well as on the barbeque. In the oven, we suggest placing the prepared wraps on a cookie sheet. On the barbeque just put them directly on the grill.
How to
Submerge and pre-soak your wraps for 5 – 10 minutes. (Depends on how flexible the wrap is. Some wraps are very pliable and will only require minimum soaking; others are more brittle and will definitely need the extra soaking time.)
Once soaked, place the food along the grain of the wrap and simply roll the wrap keeping wrap tight enough to secure the food inside. Secure the wrap with cotton butcher’s twine (which I soak along with the wraps) or tie off the wrap with soaked strips of corn husks, green onion stems or even Lemongrass.
Place the wraps on a preheated barbeque (around 400) or in the oven (middle rack) and cook for 5-8 minutes. Cooking time will be quick. The wraps are very thin and so the water you’ve soaked them in will cook out of the wrap quickly. Prawns, Scallops, Veggies and thinly sliced Salmon, Whitefish or Meats will work well (anything that cooks quickly).
Wraps infuse a subtle cedar flavour and create a wonderful visual presentation when served directly on the plates. We recommend using our Seafood Rub that is included in the Wrap Pkgs w/Seafood Rub for a fantastic flavour.
You can make 30 Wrappetizers out of the package of 10 by using scissors to cut the wraps into 2” strips and rolled as shown below.About BC Coastal Grilling Planks

12" Cedar Grill Scraper - BC Coastal Grilling
The newest addition to our BC Coastal line-up is our all-natural cedar grill scrapers. These are hand crafted on Vancouver Island and are a nontoxic, sustainable way to clean your BBQ, stove top or oven grill.
We highly recommend the use of a cedar grill scraper over the common wire brush scrapers as these wires have been known to break off and can cause serious and possibly lethal damage if ingested by humans or pets.
The heat from the grill forms the groove to become a custom scraper designed for each individual BBQ. This product is designed to form with time and use and the cedar means it is extremely durable and will last for years.
We offer two different sizes of the grill scraper (12” and 18”). The size you choose depends on what size of BBQ you use; a bigger BBQ will need a longer scraper in order to reach across the grill. Both sizes have a bevelled edge for aesthetics and comfort in the hand of the user.
Our scrapers have a jute string and informational Hang Tag with Barcoding for display and handy for the customer as it can be conveniently hung on the BBQ.Directions for use
Prep or seasoning is not needed before using your grill scraper.
In order to start the process of forming the scraper press the grill scraper firmly on your grill (branded side up) and apply even pressure to it.
Move it back and forth over the grate’s multiple times. This action will cause the grooves to form and remove any charred debris from the top and sides of the grill.
You can also season your Grill by dipping the end of the scraper into Cooking Oil and apply by moving your Grill Scraper back and forth over the grills.
Clean your grill scraper after each use by simply wiping any charred debris from the end. At the end of your Grilling season, you can wash your grill scraper in the dishwasher.
Note: Private Labelling, Custom Logo Branding for Promotional Gifts is available on all Grill Scrapers.About BC Coastal Grilling Planks

18" x 8" Western Red Cedar Grilling Plank - BC Coastal Grilling (1 Pack)
“Releasing the Flavours of the West Coast Rain Forest”
Cooking using Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) wood is a tradition handed down throughout the years from the First Nations people where it was found that the wood easily split with primitive tools, soaked up water to prevent burning and in addition, imparted a slightly sweet, smoky flavour to the food source being cooked. The most common type of food to cook on a WRC Plank is Salmon, however many other types of fish, seafoods, meat, poultry, and vegetables work well, too!
About The ProductThe WRC wood used is sourced primarily from the Coastal Forest Region and purchased in Rough Green Lumber form, the wood is first kiln or air dried to remove most of the moisture in the wood. Then planed on all 4 sides through a moulder and chamfered or rounded on the top 2 edges to reduce the chance of obtaining slivers. It is then sanded to round the corners and chamfered on the ends for appearance. Each Plank is then Logo Branded, wrapped, labelled, ready for delivery to you the Consumer.
Having been Kiln or Air Dried that removes the moisture in the Cells of wood, the Plank(s) when soaked in any liquid (predominantly water), will soak the liquid back into the cells.
Can all be used in the oven as well as the barbeque.
The planks are 9/16” (14mm) thick, which is great for any type of food, but necessary for thicker cuts of seafood, poultry, and meats. Each plank can withstand 2-3 uses on a BBQ, and multiple uses in an oven when directions are followed correctly.
Directions for Use
The first step in creating a memorable West Coast meal is to soak; this means to completely submerge the grilling plank in water or any liquid of your choosing. Soak for 2-6 hours or, ideally, overnight, if you plan ahead. The next step is to prepare the food. If using BC Coastal Grilling Rubs: measure out 1-2 Tablespoons of oil to make a paste. Slather the food with the rub and set aside.
While preheating the BBQ on High for 5-10 minutes, wipe excess water from the plank and place the food skin-side down (if seafood).
Turn one side of the BBQ down to Low and place plank on this side. Leave the other burner(s) on Med-Low and close the lid. You will hear popping and see smoke start to come from the BBQ – this is good! Check the plank frequently for flare-ups, which will occur because of the drips from the food. Use a water spray bottle to stop any flare-ups. Ideally, the plank should be smoldering, not flaring. Smoldering creates the smoke that gives the food a wonderful smoky flavour.
It is unnecessary to flip or turn seafood or veggies when plank cooking. Meats and poultry must be flipped at the halfway point in order to be cooked through.
Remember that the liquid in the plank will steam the food; this means the food will be nice and moist and might not appear to be done. Do the flake test with seafood, and check meats and poultry as you would on a regular BBQ (using a food thermometer is a great idea). Generally, cooking time will be doubled because of the indirect cooking method. Usual cooking times for seafood will be 5-6 minutes per inch of thickness.
If grill marks are wanted for appearance, a quick searing is suggested just before plating. This works well for steak, pork, and poultry, but isn’t recommended with seafood.
Other Tips:
- Can all be used in the oven as well as the barbeque.
- Placing tin foil underneath the plank during cooking will help increase the lifespan of it.
- Another way to keep the longevity of your plank is to turn the burner(s) directly underneath the plank off, and just use adjacent burners as form of indirect cooking.
- Always use care when handling hot grilling planks. If serving directly to the table, placing them on a baking sheet or appropriate tray is suggested Grilling planks
