About Taco Revolution
Ixim was started as a passion project by Michelle Paez and PJ Frayne out of their small home kitchen on Gabriola Island in 2015. Having returned to Canada from living abroad in South America, they missed the wonderful tortillas and other fresh foods that they had become accustomed to. Searching grocery stores all over Vancouver Island, they couldn't find a corn tortilla that came close to what was commonly available in Mexico. So, they purchased a small tortilla press and started making their own.
Several members in their new Island community heard about the tortillas that PJ and Michelle were making, and invited the couple to set up a booth at the Gabriola Farmer's market. The tortillas were an instant hit, and the passion project quickly turned into a hobby business. Within a year, Ixim Foods Inc was incorporated and was selling tortillas from 4 different farmer's markets around the Island. But tortillas weren't enough. People wanted ready-to-eat tacos! Beginning in the second year, the Taco Revolution food truck was built and put into service. It was a huge hit and quickly attracted a large following. Ixim Foods was no longer a hobby business.
The building of a commissary kitchen quickly followed, and with it an expanded product line. Over the course of the last few years, Taco Revolution has grown to become a highly regarded and recognized brand of Mexican Food products on Vancouver Island. And we continue to grow. -

Driven by health, inspired by innovation, motivated by impact
When Max went to France for school in 2012, he overdosed on coffee during finals season and was ordered by his doctor to quit coffee and switch to tea. He never loved traditional green and black teas, so he started searching for alternatives that would be delicious, healthy, and ultimately sustainable for his body and the planet.
A month later, he and his French classmate Arnaud were starting a new entrepreneurship class project. That first day of class in January 2013, he came across a study about the coffee leaf that proved its strong health benefits, light caffeine, and long history of use as an herbal infusion in Ethiopia and Indonesia. It also became apparent that coffee farms are very seasonal and farmers suffer from extremely volatile market prices and a long off-season where they are trimming off extra leaves but not using them for anything.
They began to ask themselves “why hasn’t anyone tried to craft or ferment the coffee leaves before, like they do in the traditional tea industry?” They had a hunch that they could create very special flavors and varieties if they applied the same tea-style methodology to the coffee leaf.
Together, the two decided that this idea was worth pursuing for their class project.
Global problems call for global collaboration
At the end of the school year, they decided to put theory into practice and flew to Nicaragua to find some coffee farms. The first farmers didn’t even believe them, asking them why they were interested in the leaf to begin with. “It has no value,” farmers would say. Others were curious, but not enough to get involved.
During their search, they kept meeting other coffee importers and buyers. One of their new connections thought the coffee leaf idea was brilliant, and introduced them to Enrique Ferrufino, a third-generation coffee farmer who leads the country in ethics and innovation.
When they brought the idea to Enrique, his eyes lit up with inspiration as he started brainstorming different ways of cultivating, crafting, and ultimately creating a new delicious drink that has the potential to revolutionize the industry for the better.
One year later, Enrique joined Wize as an equal-equity founder and bolstered the team with decades of coffee-growing experience. This team-focused aspect makes Wize vertically integrated from the ground up, and ensures that the farmers and their workers’ have decision-making power for long-term growth and sustainability.
The Wize ethos
We can all be better and do better if we make wize choices. We’re realists; yes, we have a mountain to climb to solve global problems, but with small incremental action from everyone, we can write the future that we want. The pen is in our hands.
Wize is redefining wisdom for the new generation. Acknowledging the negatives, creating the positives, and relishing the challenge instead of shying away from it. Big things have small beginnings, and this is how we choose to live our lives; with purpose.

About Tofino Hot Sauce Co.
While sitting around the pub table in Nova Scotia enjoying some of Nova Scotia's iconic 'Dave's World Famous Wing Sauce' the idea for Tofino Hot Sauce was formed. Tofino - the perfect place for an iconic hot sauce, did not yet have one; so creator and flavor-maker, Lise Richard, decided it was up to her to create one.
Since her mother was a school teacher for her career and loves plays on words she said "...and you can call it 'Hot Tuff' because you think you're hot stuff" to which Lise replied, "just for you Ma, I will.". Each flavor contains a unique three chile pepper blend with each chile relating back to a surf adventure or food experience had by Lise. A sweet-vegetable blend is the base to these intensely flavorful sauces that will elevate your tastebuds; not burn your palate.

About Wychbury Ave
In 2011, I biked over 2000 km on a cycling tour with thirteen other women on The Otesha Project to teach communities about environmental sustainability and social justice. After delivering over 30 performances about how to reduce unnecessary plastics in our everyday life and prevent human rights abuses, I wanted to put those solutions into practice and decided to make my own bath and body products with fair trade and ethically sourced ingredients, using only plastic-free and reusable packaging. In 2014, in the middle of a maternity leave from teaching, I transformed my basement into a soap-making studio and joined a community of like-minded individuals who were starting a farmers market.
Starting with tiny batches of only 7 bars at a time, I made, cut and packaged each batch myself, printing my own labels and learning the ins and outs of business as I went. I found a used bicycle trailer, and started towing my entire market setup back and forth to the Esquimalt Farmers Market each Thursday, began stocking local shops in Victoria with my soaps, and I’m now selling from my online shop at www.wychburyave.com, and at over 12 retailers on Vancouver Island. My dream began as a mission to show others how to enjoy the products we love while reducing waste and caring for people and the planet at the same time. I continue to provide vegan, palm oil-free, and fair trade products through my shop and educate others through workshops and daily insights on social media. Come join me! Let’s plant those seeds and be the change together. -

About Peak Bakery
Meet Alice and Lucas, the first PeakBakers! They are French, food lovers, and addicted to bread!
